CNY 2012
Wednesday 1556
Hello!
CNY holiday good?
I know mine is. Especially since I am still on holiday till Sunday.
Unlike previous years, I really hadn’t do much preparation for CNY. Things that happened in between days before CNY had rather kept my feet tight on the ground.
When I said I did not prepare for CNY, I really mean it. I did not do spring cleaning and only depended on the cleaning lady who came on twice a week basis. No new red clothing. Had thought of going to the hair salon to trim my hair but didn’t. No CNY decorations too. I even forgotten about going to the bank to exchange money for angpow purpose. Lucky hubby did that already.
My only preparation for CNY was to go back Keningau and celebrate with my parents. Recently, my mom fell from a rambutan tree and had her left foot fractured although a minor one. But the thought that she had this accident with no one’s around to look after her scares me lots. Dad isn’t in the best of health as well. So all I could think of is to regularly call or text her and whenever possible make myself available to go back kampung.
Anyways, some photos during the Lunar New Year…
Usually, on the eve of CNY we would gather at hubby’s grandmother’s house. This year, since one of hubby’s uncles just passed away, we decided to gather at their place instead.
Food was abundant!

Hubby putting on the role for distributing angpow this year.

Kua Merah, a must-play card game during CNY.

On first day of CNY, we went house visiting at one of hubby’s colleagues. We’ve been visiting his house during CNY three years in a row now.

And I went for purplish clothing albeit recycled items. ^__^

My God Daugther, Samantha.

Despite the taboo that married daughter should not go back to her parent’s house on first day of CNY, I defied it. Well, mom didn’t give a damn so what the heck. So ya, after house visiting… we went back Keningau to have CNY family dinner there. Stayed for a night.

It has been years since mom last welcomed a lion dance troupe to the house. On the second day of CNY, since almost all of us siblings were home except for my youngest brother…mom decided to let them in. So the lion came to bring all form of luck (hopefully) to the house.

…and with them around, so did the kids from the neighborhood. Well, they are, I believe 99.99% non-locals who followed the lion dance troupe EVERYWHERE within the village compound.

It’s not much of a hoo ha CNY this year but I’m glad that I was home for my parents and we went through the festival with much laughter in our hearts. I think, that’s what matter most to me.
Until next post!
*hugs*

Now that u mentioned her dress, it’s actually too big for her. Like 3 size bigger. LOL! Yep, I love to see plenty of food on the table. Orang cina bilang bagus sebab all year round mesti tidak kehabisan makanan

Your mum fell from a tree?! Oh my. Thankfully she’s okay, right. Ya just the thought of what if no ones was there, something like that. I always worry about my grandfather… worry incidents like that happen
Whatever it is, I pray he’ll always be okay.
Chegu, ko taw. Sepanjang masa CNY hol ni kan, sia belum pernah nampak Lion Dance face to face lagi o. Sia rasa sot o hahaa.
Happy Thursday, Chegu!
Yabah Arms…she has been climbing the tree for years already bah…tapi ntah la, makin aging, the body not strong or sharp enough to identify which branch is safe or not…dia salah pijak dahan, terpijak dahan mati. Hence, jatuh.
Iya? Adiiii ko mau pigi hunting bah tu Arms…luckily the open hse yg we go annually memang selalu panggil cha cha tung. And my parents house pun on 2nd day of CNY, gerenti tu lion dance datang mau cari ong

The third time ngam2 camera mode, tapi dunno why i go hide behind my god daughter. Bila want to retake, my god daughter sudah excited went to see tung2 chang….tulah ended up gambar kasut ja ada hehe
